Credo for double choir, with SSSSAAAATTTTBBBB Crucifixus, 2 violins, 2 violas, bass and keyboard continuo.
Caldara wrote the manuscript of his Credo in C for double choir in Venice, 1707. Research has shown that the Crucifixus (for soprano, violin and continuo) is a replacement, written on different paper and subsequently bound into the pages. Conversely, the original source for Caldara's 16-voice setting of Crucifixus has never been found. This edition argues that the large-scale Crucifixus setting is the original section of the Credo in C.
