Ancient Groove Music specialises in producing editions of sacred choral music as well as other vocal and ensemble works, having the highest standards of music engraving, academic rigour and performability. The catalogue consists of scholarly editions, from the Renaissance through the Baroque to the present day, designed by performers for performers. We also publish books on music and literature written by musicians. One of the highlights of our collection is an authentic edition of Allegri's Miserere mei, and an essay detailing the research is included on this site. Other essays on this site describe the various ways in which the Lord's Prayer was set to music in Tudor times; and the text of the poem Nolo mortem peccatoris. A major new collection of the complete works of Antonio Lotti (1667 - 1740) is underway; this includes a cappella masses and motets, as well as concert works for chorus and orchestra, such as the Credo in F and Requiem. A concert of Music by Antonio Lotti, from editions produced by Ancient Groove Music, will be given on 7th August. Ancient Groove Music is proud to announce the publication of an edition of A Plain and Easie Introduction to Practical Musicke by Thomas Morley. Published in 1597 by one of England's greatest Tudor composers, it was the first book to be written in English on the subject of music. It is presented in Modern English, fully annotated with the original woodcut engravings and examples. Recent additions to the catalogue include an English language edition of the St. John Passion by Victoria and Quemadmodum by Taverner. We have also produced recordings of some of the works in our catalogue, including a new recording of Lotti's Messa di Requiem. We also maintain a list of concerts featuring our music. Ancient Groove Music also offers Free eBooks and Music, including John Redford's morality play, c.1540, The Play of Wit and Science. Ancient Groove Music will also consider commissions and suggestions for additions to the catalogue.
